I need a starter for 79 F600, 371 engine. Can't get it from Ford.

Anyone know where I can get one?

FORD is the LAST place to go. Any auto parts store should be able to get one.

Well, not ANY auto parts store. I had my local Autozone store tell me that they could get no parts for anything over a 1-ton truck.
Of course, I don't really consider Autozone a genuine parts store anyway.

most of the older fords use the same starter.. only difference being the nose piece...

any carquest or napa either has it or can get it overnight its a commonly used ford starter

That"s been my experience with Autozone, too. If you want parts for a Honda or Toyota, they can help, otherwise you should jut ask them for directions to the nearest NAPA store.

Been there. I went into AZ about a year ago on a late Saturday. They were the only ones open and my brother needed a starter on his F600 truck. Their computer didn't go that high, so I just ordered one from an F100 of the same year with the same engine. It worked, but I'd rather get my parts from a local place that's been open forever.
