I am working on a 1974 Chevy C-60 vacuum brake booster, I have replaced the master cylinder and the vacuum booster, the brakes work but the booster will not work, it has vacuum to it and when I push the brakes it relieves pressure through the relieve (the bottom black plastic outlet) This is the second booster I have installed, thinking the first one was defective. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

The 1964 Ford F700 that I have does same thing. It has great brakes. Think its the way they work. Last booster that went out engine run rough when brakes were applied. Made vaccum leak. The one that was on it when got it was so worn out wouldnt let run. Had BIG vaccum leak. |

The way to check you booster is with the ENGINE NOT RUNNING, pump-up the brakes as hard as you can. While holding the brake pedal down start the engine. If the pedal goes down your booster is OK.
