1960 F 600 I use to haul gravel from my creek for last 15 yrs. Carb never was much. Holley 2011. I have a good single barrel off a Ford 300 six. If I made up an adapter plate how do you think it would work? Anyone ever use a single barrel on a V8? Looks like it would be OK as the six was actually bigger engine----Comments? |

I myself would not do it because of the dual plane intake manifold that you now have on your truck. The factory put two barrel carbs on V8 engines and single barrel carbs on inline 6 cylinders for a reason.
I'd simply rebuild it. If you absolutely will not rebuild your present carb, you can get generic factory rebuilt Holley carbs for ~$225 from Summit racing and probably cheaper if you went elsewhere. My $.02 worth. |

The very first GMC V-6's used a single barrel. Until they were converted to a 2 barrel, they didn't have the power to pull your member out of a pail of grease. As for your truck, as long as you don't destroy anything so you can't go back, give it a try. |

If carb Im think it is to put a 2300 series holley on intake would have to be changed to. Is it what they call "teapot" carb? fuel bowl above choke plates? |

You could replace it with a Stromberg 97 or a Ford 94 (which is the same carb), probably can"t replace it with a single barrel without an adapter. You"d have better luck with a modern 2-barrel and an adapter to convert from the 3-bolt flange to a modern 4 bolt flange. Possibly have to replace the oil bath air cleaner with a lower profile modern paper element for hood clearance, and because the oil bath won"t fit the modern carbs. |
