Shifter handle broke off inside top of tranny. How do I get piece out? Weldable? Thanks...

Muncie tranny? (Many others are made the same, also...)

Press down firmly (against an internal spring) on the shift lever retainer ring and rotate to the left (CCW as viewed looking down at it) and the ring should unlatch from 2 retainer pins and pot up.

On SOME trannies the shift lever ball retainer simply unscrews.
