I have never did this before, so bear with me!. I live on a ranch in western colorado and have a 1960 Apache 30 1 ton flatbed truck. It is all original with 65 thousand miles on the straight six engine. Everything works good on the old truck, and was used for years for hauling hay to cattle. It is red with only one rush spot near the passenger door. Does anyone know or have a idea about how much it"s worth. I don"t have a camera to show what it looks like, but it is in good condition. Thanks for your advice. |

Bob,
As you can imagine, the vehicle worth depends on a lot of variables, including where you live. Just for starters I don't think a 1960 Apache 30 is particularly rare and sought after.
Having said that, the old girl is 49 (same age as me) and is worth something simply because there aren't many around. Also, as you already know, its a good truck.
The fact that it's all original is a plus for a restorer.
It does not sound like there is much rust, also an obvious plus.
Get a copy of "Hemmings Motor News" from your local bookstore. Its a monthly mag that is full of classified ads for old vehicles. Its pretty fat, and has a brown cover. See what similar vehicles are going for.
After all is said and done, I'll go ahead and guess that it's probably worth between $1000 and $3000 in its current condition.
Unless you don't need it anymore, I'd keep it. Parts are still available although you may have to order them (lots of online suppliers). Also visit the "Stovebolt" forum. Don't recall the url just off the top of my head, but if you google "Stovebolt Forum" you should find it. Lots of good old Chevy truck information there.
Wish I had a 1960 Apache 30,
John |
