Long 310 hydralic issue

I just bought a long 310 and thought it was a good tractor, the engine runs great but the lift is all jerky and can not get it to lift and stay in a position, all it does is bounce up and down real hard. Is there a repair for this

You really need a shop manual. If the 310 is like the larger ones the 3ph control on the rh side under the seat has a complicated linkage which keeps the lever in the proper position. There is a spring arrangement the lever works against. It operates a little cam with a roller on the end. If the spring wears out and brakes it is hard to keep the lever in the right position. Then when you replace the spring it is hard to get things back in the proper order without referring to the manual, at least it was for me.

Another possibility is that the hydraulic filter is clogged up and needs replacing or cleaning if it is a wire mesh type. Sometimes the wire mesh wont clean up and has to be replaced. Hydraulic transmission oil probably need changing.

There are some copper crush washers in the hydraulic system that sometimes need replacing but you need the manual to locate them.

A pic of the hydraulic controls would help.

On the right front of the lift, there should be a responsiveness lever that about 1 and 1/2 inches long. It adjusts how quickly the lift moves up, and you should be able to adjust it with your fingers. Turn to the right, and it moves a little quicker. Some lifts "jump" if turned up too much. Check the position of this lever and turn it back counterclockwise and see if it helps or changes the lift movement. Worth a try before going into the hydraulic system.
