Hello, new to posting but have visited this site many times and find the info very usefull. I have an opportunity to purchase a solid Ford 545C 4x4 (with loader and hyd. scraper), and would like to also use it on occassion to pull a 10" offset allis chalmers disc a couple of times a year (about 8 acres of flat level ground). Will this damage the shuttle shift transmission, or should it handle it ok. Somewhere I heard that this was not good for the transmission. Any comments appreciated.

The transmission is less of an issue than the tractor being about half the size required to pull a 10' offset disc. Offsets are primary tilage tools and a 10' model would require 100 hp or more.

Thanks for replying Rick. I realize HP is on the short side, but I only need to knock down the weeds on occassion, and I can raise the disc if it digs in too deep. With construction down, deals are to be had on this type of used equipment. Farmers in my area are holding on to their good equipment, so finding an ag tractor in decent shape in my price range is a bit of a challenge. Thanks again.
