|

I have a 1996 Ford / NH 3930 that is leaking from the right rear axle seal. My I&T book describes how to remove the axle shaft but then goes into further disassembly that is not necessary if only the axle seal is being replaced. My question, does the axle shaft end play have to be checked and adjusted if the axle is only disassembled enough to remove the axle shaft and replace the seal? |

Axle shaft end play has to be checked on reassembly because the shaft has to be removed to replace the seal. When you get to remove the seal, you will have an empty trumpet housing. |
