Is it possible to replace the trans pump by removing the 3pt hitch tower and replacing it through the top or do I have to split the trans from the rear end? history- after re-tightening a valve seat in the proportioner valve body I went from no down shift to proper up and down shift but with poor holding power in the dual power-is worse when brakes applied, ideas? anyways back to my tw30 with no engine oil pressure, found pump idler gear flopping on shaft-retainer nut backed off! have new pump on order but first have to get bottom end redone and turbo also. these fords can be so much fun?

Usually these fords with the 401 engine are a solid tractor. The hydraulic pump can be removed from the side of the transmission. You have to remove the remote valves and disconnect all the hoses/pipes to the side cover. It is best to remove the entire rear wheel to gain access to it. We did this on our 9000 this spring. See the photo in the link:

Before removing the pump I would do a pressure check of the low pressure hydraulic system. There is a 1/8 NPT port on the pump cover that you can screw a 500 PSI gauge into it. If your pressure drops below 100 PSI with DP in high or low and the diff lock engauged and also depressing each brake petal you either have a weak pump or a leak in one of the low pressure systems.

The DP clutch pack can be acessed by splitting the tractor. There are special tools to take the clutch pack apart that any reputable Ford NH dealer should have. If you take the DP clutch out, take it to your dealer and depending on whats wrong with it it can cost anywhere from $800 to $1500 to repair. If the dealer does the work expect $4000+. If you slipped the clutch pack and warped the steel plates it will cost more.

actually the low pressure pump is sandwiched between the pto clutch and the transmission on this model, have been told by dealer guy that I will have to spit tractor at rear end to get at this pump. have split a 7710 before so the 35 is the same process just a whole lot heavier! thanks for the info!

That's strange because on the New Holland parts website under hydraulics for the TW 35 I still see the low pressure pump for the Dual Power, brakes and diff lock on the hydraulic pump that bolts to the side cover.

https://webparts.pvassociates.net/cnh/webparts/main.php

Enter TW35 for the model and click search. Click TW35 Ag tractor and all the sections for parts shoudl be there. Under hydraulic systems click on 05K01 HYDRAULIC TUBES & LINES. It shows the pump that bolts to the side plate. The pump has 2 outputs: the large output is for the remotes and the small output is the low pressure system for the DP, brakes and diff lock. Your tractor has the standard 8x2 transmission with the dual power right?

I would hate for you to split the tractor and not find what your looking for.

That looks more like a bearing support hub than a hydraulic pump. The part could be mislabled.

before you go tearin it down, quik check here, pull the screen in the feed fitting of the dual power and check for dirt plugging it, you would be surprised how a bit of dirt in that screen can cause troubles. where line from rear attaches to dual power valve, remove the line, a screen is inserted in the fitting of the dual power
hope this helps

Well between rebuilding a tw30 motor that had a oil pump failure and all my other farm related stuff. I broke down and sent the tw35 to the dealer shop-said had time to work on it,claims the dual power housing needed replacing, well it has been two weeks since and only answer I get is still waiting for parts!I get the impression that NH does not want to support the older lines?maybe hoping I will fall for a new tractor? only problem in that logic- it won't be Blue! well back to trying to hang more weight on my 9600 in order to get my fall work done before winter sets in!
